ESKAPO SPECIAL: A Sweet Escapade

Mom and I went out last Saturday for a one-of-a-kind date we both missed. Since I was based in Manila and she was with my brothers and sister in Cavite, we seldom go out together. And since it's my 18th (plus 5) birthday, I asked her to go to Tagaytay. Not on the usual places but on the other side that people rarely come. We both felt wanderlust that time so we enjoyed every moment together.

We took non-aircon bus to feel the wind of Tagaytay as we get there.

We left home at past 10 so it's expected that we will arrive at Tagaytay at noon. So, we first had our lunch to the restaurant I've been wanting to dine since then.

At Memory Lane (Magdangal's Family Business)

I'm pretty much excited to see the place that even though I, personally, didn't know where we're going, I still pushed my desire to go there. And this Country-style house welcomed us along with the cold summer wind of Tagayay.

I've read a lot of blogs and articles about this restaurant and since Jolina Magdangal and her family decided to build this business, I was dreaming to see how the place looks like. It's more than I expected because I've only seen country houses on TV, Internet and magazines.
It's like… "Oh my god! I wanted to live here na."
Yeah, sounds funny but it's true.
I'm a huge fan of country houses and when I have the opportunity to have my own house, I wanted it to be like this.

Aside from country houses, I also love vintage. I love looking and reminiscing (though I wasn't very old fashioned even my family) about the past. I love to glimpse on how vintage things look like.

As we get in, the first thing I said to my mom, "Mi, ang ganda ng lugar. Gusto ko ganito ka presko yung magiging bahay ko. Yung tipong dalawang kulay lang siya para hindi masakit sa mata tas gusto ko dito din sa Tagaytay."

And this is the first time I've seen a "DUKEBOX," seriously.

And that's where the crew stands and receives orders.

old camera ^_^

This cute glass of water makes you feel something special. It also comes with a liter of water with a slice of lime.

old kettles

old toys

the gift shop where you can buy a souvenir.

DVD/CD racks on sale

This old television is cute. It previews the old music videos and songs.

Way to the Spa and Comfort Room.
I wasn't able to capture the comfort room because I left my camera on the table but to give you a hint, it's also semi-vintage-like comfort room.

"Home is where the Heart is."

Nice plating and utensils.
We didn't order too much because we're not that big-eaters (okay, I'm a big eater). We didn't want to have leftovers if we weren't able to finish our dish that's why.

I didn't give attention to the blogs I've read about the service but to my surprise, it was true. When we got there at past 12, we came over 5 other (group) customers but as we wait, we all feel the hunger. Why? Because they had a very slow service. Imagine, we were there at (I guess) 12:55 PM and we had our lunch at 1:30 PM. The first group (the one on the left) had their bill out because of the same reason. The second one (on the right) almost had their bill out but the crew follow up their order. And the same thing goes, my mom also want to have our bill out but I said, we will wait for another minutes. Good thing, 'twas served immediately as we follow up.

we ordered Boneless Bangus Belly Steak at P345 (good for 2)

and this over-stuffed steamed Pinaputok na Tilapia at P145

The food was good but I found the Bangus Belly Steak too salty (or I'm not that fan of steaks) and the one we curiously wanted, Pinaputok na Tilapia, really made my day. I hate onions and tomatoes but as it deeply nourished the fish, you, too would love to have it.

The facade of the restaurant.

After we had our lunch, we proceed to Puzzle Mansion to witness one record breaking collection of puzzles allover the world. Well, it took us long travel for almost 5 km away from Memory Lane. We rode tricycle since it's the most convenient form of transportation that time to go the Puzzle Mansion. And when we get there, this is what we saw.

A mansion around the pineapple farm. It's too high!

What I love the most about traveling around are the beautiful flowers. Look at this orange flower with a bee. Actually, I was so scared capturing this… putting in mind that if I stay long beside this flower will lead me to a bee attack. Haha! That's why, the shot was a bit blurry.

Actually, I found this flower outside Memory Lane. It's cute and different :)

The entrance of Puzzle Mansion.

Puzzle Mansion's shuttle. I suggest that they should add more shuttles for the tourists so that it would lessen their travel expenses as well as their travel time. Riding a trike would cost you P300, so it's much better to have more shuttles like this.

Ticket cost P100 per head

Huge Welcome Puzzle :)
My mom and I had a very hard time having picture with this coz it's too hot that time :D

I love how I capture this flower :)

Entrance from the Mansion!

A Make a Wish section beside the entrance.

This welcomes us when we get in the Mansion. It's like… "Wow!"

Who could have this huge collection of puzzles in the world?

Well, it's none other than Mrs. Georgina Gil-Lacuna. Her collections were awarded as the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles allover the world.

Anyway, it's so evident in her mansion. She had one-of-a-kind puzzle collections in different forms and sizes. From wood to crystal and smallest to largest puzzles from allover the world. Truly, she deserved the award.

Dinosaur Bones Wooden Puzzles

Moscow? haha idk

I do love this puzzle not because it's Kraken but because of the puzzle pieces. Look closely to see. It's cute!

And this! <3 <3 <3 Crystal #Panda

Pyramid Puzzle

this is also cute, di ba?

If I love #Panda, of course I love #Winnie the Pooh too! SOOOO MUCH!

Philippine Puzzle collection on second floor :)

Actually, at first, I didn't know how this puzzle would mean to me, so I just captured it like it's ordinary… why?
LATER.

Inside the souvenir shop :)
Puzzle, puzzle, puzzle, puzzle, puzzle, puzzle and MOOORRREEEE puzzles!

The owner was spotted :) She was working hand-in-hand with the tourists :) She's so cool!

This </3
It's already in my hands yet someone just grabbed it away and bought it. Pity me, I had the bravest competitor when it comes to pandas.

Puzzles come in different pricing. The cheapest was P150 and the most expensive was P15k? If I heard it right.

This is the Mansion's specialty. Coconut Cream Pie. It's not the usual "buko pie" because it was topped with cream and it's so delicious. I've read about it in an article and I don't regret anything from trying it :) A slice costs P50 and a box costs P350 with 8 slices so it's cheaper when you buy a box. It's a must try, I swear!

And the reason why was… this puzzle collection was actually the World's Largest Puzzle Pieces Collection in the world!

After 900 hours, the 61-year-old holder of a title for owning the world's biggest puzzle collection, finished the 32,256-piece "Double Retrospect" at 3 P.M. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

The 214 x 76-inch jigsaw puzzle, based on a work by American 80's pop artist Keith Haring, was Lacuna's latest addition to her collection, now housed at the family's The Puzzle Mansion in Tagaytay City, Cavite.

The picture was taken from my mom's phone cam because my NIKO had his mood-swing. That's why I wasn't able to capture the clear version of the world's largest puzzle in the world.

And to our way home. Way up high.

Surely, my mom enjoyed our day together.

And this has been one of the most memorable birthdays I had in my entire life :) And I thank the Lord for this LIFE He has given me :)

I hope you enjoyed reading!
love lots,
